THE
Derriford Indoor Cricket League continues to grow. For
the 2008-09 season there will be 30 teams competing
in four divisions. There will also be a knockout cup
and a shield competition for the teams knocked out in
the first two rounds of the cup.
Teams will have the added incentive of winning
the cup this year, knowing that the Devon finals will
be held at Derriford on February 15.
City Police/Royal Mail and Woodland Fort A did not re-enter
this season and have been replaced by Tideford B and
two University of Plymouth teams.
To accommodate one more team this season, the games
will start at 10.20am each Sunday with the last game
due to start at 8.50pm. Although the league starts this
Sunday (October 5), the first games in the top division
will not take place until October 12.
The first game on will see Cornwood A play their recently
promoted C team. Match of the first round of games sees
last season's league runners-up and knockout cup winners,
Mayfair Sapphires take on last year's third-placed team,
Plympton.
