East Devon's stalwart John Gush was a guest of the ECB CA at the one day international at Bristol where he watched New Zealand beat England. He had been nominated by Devon along with West Devon's David Bayliss and Adam Parker for the prestigious SKY SPORTS Coach Rewards and Recognition scheme. Gush was put forward for the Outstanding Coaching Achievement for his tremendous work with young cricketers particularly in the East. West Devon Forum Chairman David Bayliss was nominated in the Outstanding Contribution and Services to Cricket Coaching section for his work particularly in the West of the county. These two make vital contributions to cricket coaching and are part of an extensive network of unsung volunteers in the County. Adam Parker was nominated for his growing reputation as a coach for the Young Coach of the Year Award. Bayliss was unable to attend the event when Gush was entertained by the ECB and presented, on the playing area with full big screen coverage, with his certificate by SKY's Nick Knight during the lunch interval. He was part of an exodus from Devon that included many of the counties leading women cricketers who were having a day off. They were exceptionally fortunate with the weather and treated to a very close game of cricket.
