BRIXHAM
are on their way to a third Brockman Cup final in five
years having disposed of Abbotskerswell by 13 runs in
the outstanding sem-final tie.
Mark Newman made a solid 42, Paul Heath chipped and
nurdled 42 not out and Chris Sleep launched some big
hits late on for a quick 14 not out in Brixham's total
of 123 for four.
Abbots were always struggling
to keep up with the asking rate – four tight overs
from Geoff Newman (4-19) made sure of that – and
by the time Malcolm Douglas (32) laid into the bowling
it was too late.
Brixham 123-4 (M Newman 42, P Heath 42no, C Sleep 14l
H Crocker 2-28), Abbotskerswell 110-9 (M Douglas 32.
S Green 13, H Crocker 15, S Green 13; G Newman 4-19,
S Caunter 3-36). Abbotskerswell bt Brixham by 13 runs.

KINGSKERSWELL
2nd XI booked their place in the Brockman Cup final
with a nail-biting five-wicket win over Paignton 3rd
XI on Friday night in the first of the competition's
semi-finals.
Paignton's total of 136 for five in 20 overs at the
Recreation Ground was a testing one – and at 97
for three in reply with five overs to go Kerswell had
their work cut out to reach it.
However, a stand of 47 between Phil Lacey (33no) and
Nathan Weedon (33) got Kerswell up to 120 for four and
with Lacey batting through they won with a ball to spare.
The villagers had needed nine to win from the final
over.
Overall it was a solid effort from the Kerswell batters,
led by second-wicket pair Mark Kenyon (29) and Mark
Etherington (21), who put on 47.
Earlier, Scott Baldry had hit a half-century for Paignton,
which included five fours and two sixes, and Liam Talbot
had made 41.
Paignton 136-5 (S Baldry 50, L Talbot 41, C Bryan 10;
P Lacey 3-19), Kingskerswell 137-5 (P Lacey 33no, N
Weedon 33, M Etherington 21, M Kenyon 29; R Gilmour
2-15). Kingkserswell bt Paignton by 5 wkts.
THE
FINAL IS AT TORQUAY CC ON FRIDAY, JUNE 28
