PLYMOUTH are on course for a league and cup treble after thrashing Feniton by seven wickets in the final of the Corinthian Cup at Cornwood.

Dave Burke's outfit had already won the Ivor Dewdney Plymouth Twenty20 tournament before Sunday's win over Feniton – and can make it three out of three if they stay top of the Devon League B Division until the end of the season.

And it's looking like one of the best season's the Peverall Park club has ever had as their third team is in the running to win the Devon League D Divison West as well.

Plymouth defeated Brixham by four wickets in one morning semi-final while Feniton and Hatherleigh were playing off in the other semi on an adjoining pitch.

Andy Pugh top scored for Brixham with 42 in their total of 166 for five in the 18 eight-ball-over format – and Plymouth only just scraped through to the final after needing 10 to win in the last over.

Richard Ward (31) and Pugh gave Brixham a solid start by putting on 65 for the second wicket, then Tim Robinson and John Lamswood upped the pace by smashing 73 in the last five overs.

Lamswood made 39 not out while Robinson was unbeaten on 34 when the overs ran out.

All the Plymouth bowlers took some punishment with Tom Whitlock, who finished with two for 43 from three overs, costing the most.

Plymouth raced away to 79 for the first wicket with Suman Das (45) and Mark Thompson (38) both in fine form.

When Das and Thompson were parted the chase was taken up by Martin Raadschelders and Plymouth captain Burke, whose added another 53 for the fourth wicket

Burke had gone for 16 and Raadschelders for 43 by the time the last over from Tim Robinson began with Plymouth on 157 for five. Robinson (4-29) raised Brixham hopes by getting James Nicholls out first ball, but Luke Minnett and Matt Smith nudged the ball around to get down to the final ball needing four to win. Minnett swung the ball away for the winning runs.

Feniton brushed aside D Division outfit Hatherleigh pretty easily in the other semi-final after totting up 151 for nine in their allocation of 18 eight-ball overs.

Brian Cann was the anchorman with 51 and it was his stand of 75 with Mark Kingdom (22) that put Feniton in the driving seat.

Getting Cann and Kingdom out didn't help Hatherleigh too much as Stuart Bright (18no) and Graham Tucker (15) larruped a few more in the dying overs.

Hatherleigh probably realised it wasn't going to be their day when well known Devon soccer referee Andy Bennett was asked to bowl the last over – and was smashed around for 20!

Hatherleigh's shortcomings with the bat were soon exposed as they slumped to 22 for seven in reply. Russ Whitton (1-11) kept it tight then Dave Carnall (3-13) and Bright did the damage.

Nick Rogers (22) and Mark Cooper (54) salvaged some respectability by knocking up 66 for the eighth wicket, but their was no way back for Hatherleigh and they were finally bowled out for 109.

Feniton opted to bat first in the final and were held to 127 for eight – Whitlock showing what he is really capable of by taking five for 17 from four overs. Skipper Burke was even more miserly as his four-over spell cost just 11 runs but didn't produce any wickets either.

Pete Beale (34) and Dave Haysom (22) were the main run getters early on for Feniton as they reached 92 for four. Alex Frankpitt swung the bat – he hit Thompson for a couple of sixes – but after was out Feniton slowed from 117 for five to 127 for eight.

Raadschelders picked up where he left off against Brixham by clubbing an unbeaten 76 to see Plymouth to their seven-wicket win with six of the 18 overs to come. He came in at first wicket down and belted nine fours and four sixes during a 39-ball stay and shared in an unbroken stand of 63 with Burke (14no) to secure the silverware.
