David Gambie

My background in cricket is:-

After having played the game for many years I have always wanted to put back into the game the enjoyment and benefits that have been provided by past club members and officials. I was the Secretary for the defunct Exeter St Thomas CC from about 1974 until 1980. After joining Exeter CC I became the Secretary and Fixture Secretary until I left in 1997. I then joined Exeter St James CC and became their Secretary until 2007. From 2003 I became a member of the Devon Cricket league and took on the Acting Chairman role in April 2005. I became the Chairman of the DCL in 2006 and continue to date.

I have the following roles & responsibilities for the DCB and I also undertake roles at a regional / national level for:-

I am responsible for leading the development of the Devon Cricket League and maintaining its' pre-eminence within the County. This includes providing competitive cricket for all sizes of clubs, ensuring that the game is played within the Laws and within the ‘Spirit of Cricket'. In achieving these aspects it helps the DCB to deliver part of its Strategic Plan for cricket.

I can help you with:-

Guidance on the Rules of the DCL, resolving disputes and ensuring that the club views on how the DCL progresses is fully considered.

What best describes you which is not mentioned already?

Although I lead an extremely time consuming business life I have always found the time to put the DCL affairs ahead of other matters. If you take on an important role it is essential that you devote full energy to it. At the same time encourage and allow other members to fulfil their roles with the minimum of supervision.
