My background in cricket is:-

I moved to Devon in 1985 and have enjoyed playing cricket for Brixham Cavaliers, Gemini FM and now for Harberton. I decided to get more involved in Umpiring, joined DCUS (Devon Cricket Umpires and Scorers Society} I became a Fully Qualified Umpire in 1996 and have umpired at all levels up to and including Minor Counties. I now umpire around 50 games a season in Devon

I have the following roles & responsibilities for the DCB and I also undertake roles at a regional / national level for:-

For the past seven years I have been Chairman of DCUS and I represent them on the Cricket Board I am a Training Officer in the South for DCUS .I was recently invited to join the ECBACO Interim Board .ECBACO is the newly formed National body for Umpires and Scorers and it is good for Devon Cricket that we are represented on the Board.

I can help you with:-

DCUS wants to further improve standards of umpiring and scoring at all levels in Devon Cricket. We run courses in the autumn/winter and encourage all clubs to get involved.

I am also the Assistant Secretary on the Board- for Appeals. If your club has an Appeal which would come under the jurisdiction of the Board contact me in the first place for how to proceed

DCUS can help you with training at all levels:

For parents,teachers, coaches etc involved in Colts games we can present an evening's course to improve your knowledge

For Club Umpires we have a course to help you learn a little bit more so that you will get more enjoyment from standing.

For the keen Umpire who wants to go on the League Panel there is now the opportunity to move quickly up the ladder.

For scorers, too we can arrange courses to help ,no matter what level of cricket you are involved in .
