EXETER'S problems started before the game against Babbacombe began as they only had four players at start time!

Three cars containing Exeter players got lost on the way to Bicton College. Luckily for Exeter they arrived before the third wicket fell.

Exeter struggled to reach 63 for nine after 30 overs, although a last-wicket stand 21 between Peter Hensor (27) and Jeff Stanyer got the score up to 90.

Babbacombe bowler Rick Backholer took six for 26.

Babbacombe had 58 overs in which to make the 91 needed for victory and   took no chances to reach 85 without loss.

Syd Drake got out for 20 with victory in sight, but Ron Thomson batted through for an unbeaten 47 to give Babbbacombe a nine-wicket win with 33 overs to spare.

In form Richard Hayman cracked 84 to put leaders Ipplepen on course for 186 against Dartington and Totnes.

Justin Osborne hit 48 in the D&T   reply, but good support was hard to find as Keith Wakeham (4-34) and Hayman (2-9) dismissed the visitors for 146.

Kingskerswell gained ground in the top three with an embarrassingly easy nine-wicket win over Dawlish & Teignmouth.

Peiter Douglas (4-10) and Dave Dingle (4-11) shot D&T out for a paltry 56. Mick Judkins (24no) saw Kerswell home.

Elsewhere, Cockington won by three wickets against Plymouth CS and Plympton bowled Roborough out for 64 to win by seven wickets.
