E
DIVISION EAST 2nd XI - JUNE 9
IN
E Division East, Upottery II were involved in an exciting
game against visiting Uplyme & Lyme Regis II with
the home side entering the last over looking for six
runs to claim the two points for a losing draw and the
visitors seeking a single wicket to claim the game.
It was Uplyme who came out on top when John Lambwilson
picked up his 4th wicket of the afternoon and left the
hosts all out on 189, two balls shy of a draw and two
runs short of getting the two-thirds of the opposition
score for the ‘losing draw' points!
The visitors had batted first and were led by Mark Batey
who plundered a magnificent century. Batey smashed eighteen
4's and a 6 in a knock of 118 and there were useful
contributions from Dave Norman (56) and Jeremy Syms
(69), Ian Drew picked up three wickets for the hosts
and then top scored with 54.
Bruce Inglis hit 52 and Mike Kellow was one of the last
two home batsmen at the wicket when the final over began.
Kellow was at the non-strikers' end unbeaten on 27 but
three balls into the final over Leo Jefferson was dismissed
by Lambwilson and the game was over. Martin Colley also
picked up four wickets for Uplyme.
