LEADERS
Yarcombe & Stockland took their perfect record to
Shaldon, but were unable to extend their advantage at
the top of the table as the heavens opened with the
hosts on a laboured 105-3 with just 14 overs of their
innings remaining.
Peter Elver
and Richard Boss were the principle run getters when
the rain arrived.
The Yarcome & Stockland washout at Shaldon left
Upottery with the opportunity to regain the top spot
they had conceded the week before and they took the
chance with a nine-wicket at Newton St Cyres.
Chardstock had finally ended
a run of three straight defeats the previous week with
a losing draw and they repeated the process closing
at 144-9 in reply to visiting Topsham St James's 180-8.
Alan Hayes had top scored for the Tops whilst James
Hayden (4-42) and James Trott (2-59) claimed wickets.
Chardstock's acting skipper Phil Strawbridge top scored
with 33 and Tom Eames chipped in with 19 but it was
tail-end charlies Jack Larcombe and James Trott who
played out the final over to secure a second successive
unbeaten game for Chardstock.
“Another game without defeat is a step in the right
direction but as games go I am afraid this one was rather
boring,” said Strawbridge.
