SIDMOUTH
made the best of half a game against Torquay to pick
up five batting bonus points before the weather intervened.
Opener Anthony Griffiths hit a top score of 78 in Sidmouth's
48-over total of 234 for three declared.
Along the way there was a 113-run stand for the second
wicket with Matt Cooke, who hit a Premier Division personal
best of 69.
Earlier, Simon Sobczak (32) hoisted 64 for the first
wicket with Griffiths. The stand ended when Sobczak
was run-out by a direct hit on the stumps from Kris
Davis.
Davis (2-65) earned Torquay a bowling point.
There was no further play after tea as rain swept in
over Sidmouth's sea front ground.
No other games in the Premier Division even got started
- including the eagerly awaited clash between leaders
Plympton and newly promoted Plymouth.
