DAVE
Watson and Phil Stephenson both hit half centuries as
Plymouth trounced 10-man North Devon by seven wickets.
Take out a 54-run stand between
veteran left-hander Bob Heaman, who carried his bat for
44 not out, and Dave Tribe (28) and there wasn't much
from the rest as North Devon were dismissed for 138.
Plymouth had to work for their wickets though and they
only started to come when Phil Barrow was brought back
into the attack for a second spell, this time bowling
down the Peverell Park slope.
Barrow (2-29) whipped out
Tribe then Sanjay Dindyal (4-43) took care of the
rest as North Devon were rolled over.
Watson (53) and Stephenson (51no) knocked the first 94
off between them. Despite a tidy spell from Dave Smale
(0-17 off 13 overs), Plymouth were never going to lose
after that.
A
FIVE-wicket haul for Julian Wragg set Exeter on course
for a six-wicket win in a low-scoring game at Barton.
Wragg (5-13) and James Tuck
(2-22) shot Barton out for 107 with former Tiverton Town
defender Dave Cadwallader (26) the only batter to hang
around long.
Richard Nelsey (37) and Shane Langford (26) put on 68
as Exeter knocked off the runs.
SIDMOUTH
were brought down to earth after their maximum points
win over Exmouth on the opening day of the season when
they lost by five wickets at Plympton.
Runs were hard to come by
from the start with Sidmouth's James Macey taking 50 balls
just to reach 14.
Graham Munday (44no) and Fraser Hanson (31) fared little
better as Sidmouth crawled to 133 for nine.
An opening stand of 89 between Dave Walter (49) and Neil
Tremayne (39) broke the back of the chase. By the time
Tremayne was dismissed the target was 24 and it was game
over.
