CUP FINAL UPDATE 13th Sept 2009
An abrasive outfield surface made its mark on the ball and fielding at Boundary Park for the South Devon Cricket League Challenge Cup Final.
Brixham after a nervy slow start went one wkt down in the 3rd over and lost 2 further early wkts before Tim (nine lives) Robinson 55 and Craig Eaves 50 put on 87 runs for the 4th wkt either side of the drinks break. That tricky outfield and some sloppy Stokeinteignhead fielding allowed Brixham to set a target of 194 to win having lost 7 wkts.
Stoke in their 10th Cup final had a seady start Mike Lang 23 and Mark Hulse 31 adding 48 for the first wkt. In stepped Lee Upham for the start of his 3rd over. 1st ball catch, second ball lbw and on a hat trick. No joy but took another on the first ball of his next over.
Uphams 7th over starts. Bowled, lbw, on a hat trick, lbw for the Cup final’s first hat trick. Wickets continue to fall with Stokeinteign requiring over 8 an over at the end, finished on 109 all out.

UPDATE 31st AUGUST 2009
Teams are reminded that any proposals for League amendments must be received by this next weekend Friday 4th Sept. The AGM is as usual on the third Fri in October, namely 16th October. New applications to join the League must be received by Fri 25th Sept. Currently Abbotskerswell and Thorverton have applied.
All now resolved in the League with the Cup matches to come.
Brixham v Ipplepen and Stokeinteignhead v Ashburton on the 6th.
Congrats to Brixham after their 14pt win over Raleigh pipped Paignton by 4pts for the Championship.
Topsham did indeed work the miracle with a 12pt win to survive in Div 3 and relegate Plymouth. They beat South Devon whose 2pt deduction cost them promotion to Div 2.
TEAMS ARE REMINDED THAT IN THE CASE OF A CANCELLATION OR GAME CONCEDED "BOTH TEAMS" MUST INFORM THE LEAGUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO PREVENT ANY MALICIOUS CANCELLATIONS AFFECTING MATCHES. Kevin needs to be informed in which case you will probably not need to send in a result sheet, and I need informing so that I can quickly update the website.

Members are reminded that overseas players MUST be registered with this League, under Regulation A1.2, at least 48 hrs before playing or suffer a penalty points deduction under Reg C8.
