B DIVISION

LEE Solway cracked an unbeaten century as Chudleigh 2nd XI bounced back from a mauling by Bradninch in their opening game with the best of a draw at Barnstaple.

Openers, Jason Barnes and Lee Solway put on 91 before Barnes was caught off the bowling of Dan Donavan for 28.

Chudleigh still looked in a good position as Solway passed 50. Solway and Ben Tuckett managed to get the ball away and Chudleigh finished their innings in command at 206 for two.

Solway ending on 103 not out, an innings that included eight fours and some great shots.

Dave Loder and Rodney Bowden looked comfortable until Bowden chipped the ball in the air and was caught off the bowling of Dave Williams.

Loder continued to score runs until he was well caught at slip by centurion Solway off Jack Vittles.

Wickets continued to tumble for B& P and only Rob Holm (51no) and Rob Wilkins (20) showed any fight. Barnstaple held out for the losing draw on 160 for seven.

Vittles (4-38) did most of the damage with the ball for Chudleigh.

CLYST St George 2nd XI were on top form against Tavistock, rattling along to 256 for seven before claiming a 111-run win

Alan Welsh (73)   and James Watson (55) led the way with Nick Payne (42) providing the support. Youngster James McGahey had three for 54 for Tavvy.

Tavvy were then skittled out for 145 in reply with Nigel Hardy bagging five for 33 and Paul Richardson three for 28. Nick Goodchild made 47 in a losing cause for Tavvy.

ALPHINGTON will have been disappointed to lose to Plymouth IIIs after Steve Orchard (3-38), Tim Collier (2-28) and Richard Gott (2-36) rolled them over for 159.

Without 84 from Tristan Mitsopoulis, Plymouth would have been in deep trouble.

Collier (21) was the only run getter of note in the Alphington reply of 113 all out. Richard Gill and Al Stewart had three wickets each.

CRAIG Eves claimed four for 23 as Brixham overpowered Plymouth CS by 65 runs.

Brixham were all out for 192 with no batsman doing better than Nathan Way, who made 37. Andy Hawkes (28) and Steve Barron (33) chipped in. Pick of the Civil bowlers was Nathan Bulley with three for 19.

Civil were all out for 127 in reply as Eaves and Wes Fowler (3-30) winkled them out. Stuart Dent (33) and Trevor Culpin (30) were the only batters to hang around long.
