Axminster planning for season ahead
NEWLY elected Axminster Town captain Paul Miller will be looking for a good turnout of players when practice sessions restart at the Axe Valley Sports Hall on February 19th (6pm).
   All members will be notified and any prospective members are welcome to attend.  On Thursday, March 11 the club will be holding a special general meeting to formally accept a new constitution and complete some unfinished  business from the annual meeting last November.
   The ladies continue their pre-season nets at 5pm on Sundays and would also welcome any new members. 
   The new East Devon training sessions for girls under 15, held in Exeter during the winter months, have been attended by a dozen girls from Axminster so the club will be hoping they will moving into ladies’ cricket in the next season or two.
   From March 7 the U11’s will follow the Ladies on Sundays from 6.30pm. The Under 15’s & U13’s restat training on Tuesday  March 2nd at 5.30pm. The club has seen three more members obtain their UKCC Level 1 Coaching awards during the last few months and already have interest from other members who will be taking the course later in the year.   The season starts for the club on Sunday 11th April with a match against Seaton and Friday April 16th will be Registration Evening for all members.  The popular Colts Friday training sessions will follow from the 23rd April until July 9th.
   Club Patrons Day this year will be on June 20th when the club are hosting a Charity Day for the Lady Taverners.  The organisation has been of assistance to the club on several occasions and all proceeds from the day will be shared between the two Charities, The Lady Taverners and CLSC.  The junior members of the club will be again battling it out in the Axminster Junior Premier League during the morning and after lunch the Ladies XI will play against a Devon Womens League XI.  Cloakham will also be host to two Devon County Ladies Matches and two Devon under 21 games as well as numerous other junior county matches.
