The Thors posted 163-4 from their 20 overs, the main contributions coming from opener Paul Fielder (66) and Andrew Codling (58no). Will Greig took 2-41 for the visitors.
Clyst started well in reply through Ian Sutton (23) and Russ Corney (22) but a collapse followed before the ship was steadied by John Rhodes (52) and Geoff Trudge (37no). Despite the recovery, Clyst never seriously threatened Thorverton’s total and finished on 152-7 against Jacob Broom (2-17), Gillam Crouch (2-18) and Christian Cubborn (2-8).
In Division Two, Topsham St James defeated the Met Office by just three runs in a close encounter played in increasingly damp conditions!
St. James batted first and made 112 for five, the runs coming from Ben Ward (41) and Ross Treleaven (25no). Yash Pradhan was the pick of the bowling for the weathermen, taking 3-24.
In reply, many Met Office batsmen made a start but no-one was able to push on to make a match-winning contribution, the top scores coming from Pete Wilson (26) and skipper Rami Yedidi (24). Joe Thomlinson took 2-10 for St. James.
Just six overs were possible across Exeter at Civil Service, where visitors Alphington had made 54 without loss when the terminal downpour arrived. Anthony Shepherd (25) and Will Pring (26) were the not out batsmen.
