AT last! Dartington & Totnes are off the mark in the B Divison thanks to four-wicket win over Shobrooke Park.

Jacques Budricks top scored for Shobrooke with 58 not out off 70 balls in a total of 180 for eight.

Skipper Chris Simpson made 37 off 77 balls having put on 41 for the second wicket with opener Chris Ford (20).

Shobrooke losts wickets in batches – 65 for one became 65 for three, 105 for three deteriorated to 110 for six – and were glad of Budricks and Andy Steer (18) for getting together a stand of 53 in the last 10 overs.

Jono Colegate (1-21) and South African Ed Verrall (2-22) bowled mean nine-over spells for Darts while Devon O50s’ spinner Chris Cook picked up three for 40.

Verrall then led the Dartington run chase with an unbeaten 73.

Darts seemed to be cruising at 95 for three after Verrall and Kalon Veale (36) had put on 81.

Three wickets went for three runs added – Phil Anning (2-36) and Tom Youngman (1-33) to the fore – but Verrall found a willing running mate in Ollie Payne (24) in a pairing worth 51.

D&T captain James Howrihane (23no) wiped off the final few runs needed to win the game.

“Winning captain Howrihane said: “We finally got the win we have deserved the last few weeks with a great team performance.

“Eddie Verrall played a really controlled innings in the chase.”

Shobrooke are only 14 points clear of the drop zone going into the game against leaders Plymstock this Saturday.

Skipper Simpson looked at the table and said: “We need to start winning some games.”

On the defeat by previously winless D&T, the Shobrooke skipper added: “

We got sent in and didn't score enough runs,

“Jacques and Andrew Steer had a good partnership at the end to get us up to 180.

“We picked up a few wickets but couldn't get Verrall out, who batted really well.”
