SOMERSET are sending a 2nd XI to Exeter next Friday night (Aug 5) to play a game celebrating the opening of the new pavilion on the County Ground.

Exeter have close links with Somerset these days as Dom Bess, Ollie Sale, Ben Green and Tom Lammonby are all part of the 2nd XI or Academy set-up at Taunton.

Somerset staffman Alex Barrow, an old school mate of Exeter captain Miles Lenygon, has played for Exeter around his other commitments for the past two seasons.

And Exeter’s player-coach this season is Alfonso Thomas, who was knocking over batsman for Somerset for eight seasons.

Somerset will be playing a Devon Invitation XI, made up of Exeter players and guests.

The team is still being finalised but among the players asked to guest in the game are Devon pair Matt Golding and Zak Bess.

Start time next Friday night is 5pm.
