PLYMOUTH are aiming to build on their three-wicket win over Cornwood when Torquay visit Mount Wise,

The City side are still five points behind Cornwood in the scrap to avoid going down with Brixham – and well aware the season is ticking away.

“We are in the last third of the season so each game is crucial now,” said Plymouth skipper Sam Stein.

“We are looking forward to playing Torquay this weekend and taking a few good individual performances from last week.

“Joe Hagan Burt and Hal Kerton bowled well and Joe and Hamish Gardiner went on to score 50s as well.

“We just want a few more of those performances from the lads to give a good team performance.

“Torquay are quite close to us in the league to it gives us a good chance to make up some ground if we get a good result on Saturday.”

CORNWOOD won’t be rolling out the welcome mat on the pitch for SIdmouth on the field when the leaders visit Oak Park.

While Sidmouth are probably three wins away from winning the Premier title, Cornwood are battling to stay up.

Last Saturday’s defeat by fellow strugglers Plymouth upped the pressure on Cornwood, who are only five points clear of the drop zone.

“We all know it's going to be a big test against one of, if not the best team in the league,” said Cornwood captain Elliot Staddon.

“But we know Cornwood isn't the easiest of places to come to and we will aim to make it as difficult as we can.

“Our opening bowlers (James and Ahmad) were superb last week and hopefully we can carry that on going into Saturday

“Jason Hall is bowling extremely well in the middle over for us and Jackson Thompson is getting into some form at the top of the order.”

Matt Skeemer still out injured and Andy Bees is away on holiday Adam Goodliffe comes back in as another seam option, replacing Robin Dart 

SIDMOUTH go to Cornwood with a question mark over the fitness of opening bat Liam Lewis.

All-rounder Lewis suffered a groin injury while bowling last Saturday which forced him off the field in the win over Exmouth.

Lewis made 51 towards Exmouth’s total of 256 all out, which paved the way for a 76-run win over their seaside rivals.

One problem Sidmouth won’t have is who to bring in should Lewis declare himself unfit.

Harvey Sargent was left out of the 1st XI last Saturday as there was no room for him. His response was to smash 141 for the 2nd XI at Exmouth.
