SEATON skipper Ben Morgan claimed his side are one win away from promotion following their 89-run win over Clyst Hydon.

Seaton, the long-time leaders, are 36 points ahead of Filleigh at the top of the table with three games and 60 points to play for.

Said Morgan: “If we can beat Filleigh this Saturday I can’t see anyone stopping us.

“Even if we lost out last two games, we should be capable of getting the points we need to be certain.”

Joel Seward with 71 and Morgan (70) were Seaton’s main run getters in a 45-over total of 241 for nine.

Their stand of 117 for the fourth wicket ended when Seward was dismissed by Ian Sutton.

Morgan was fifth out at 215 having hit 10 fours and two sixes. James Billington (3-35) got Morgan out. Clinton Lewis and Dhanuja Haturusingha had two wickets each.

Hydon make life hard for themselves by slumping to 41 for four, but had recovered slightly by the time Sutton (37) was fifth out at 91.

Lewis (32) and Richard Arnold (31)  gave Hydon some hope, but Seward (2-38) got both and Joe Berry (4-38) sorted out the lower order as Hydon were bowled out for 152.

Seaton entertain Barnstaple this Saturday.

AXMINSTER slipped into more trouble at the bottom of the C Division East when they slipped to a seven-wicket defeat in the derby clash with Feniton.

They weren’t the only ones to slip into trouble either as so did Feniton all-rounder Adam Ramcharran.

Ramcharran fell over while fielding and suffered a broken ankle, which delayed the game for nearly an hour.

When play resumed the match was slimmed down to 39-overs-a-side.

Barnstaple’s surprise win over Cullompton did Axminster no favours at all as it shunted them down to bottom spot in the table.

Axminster are 14 points adrift going into the last three games, the first of which is Cullompton (away) this Saturday.

Skipper Paul Miller stroked 92 not out for Axminster in their total of 210 for six.

Mike Wakley (29) and Miller put on 81 after the early loss of Matt Pile, but there was nothing significant until Ben Fuzzard weighed in with 26 late in the day.

Jon Pyle topped the bowling returns for Feniton with four for 26.

Feniton started solidly with Mark Salter (26) and Graham Tucker (84no) putting on 87.

Tucker kept going, taking chunks out of the target with Mark Kingdon (29) and Pyle (32no).

Dave Field had two wickets in a losing cause for Axminster, who are away to Cullompton on Saturday.

BARNSTAPLE & Pilton pulled off a surprise win over promotion-chasing Cullompton, which may just keep them up.

Things looked bleak for B&P captain Steve Moore when Cullompton were 10 runs from victory with four wickets in hand and three overs to go.

To win by eight runs lifted B&P ahead of Axminster and Countess Wear and out of the bottom two.

The game changed in an over from Henry McEndoo, who took two wickets and was still bowling when Tom Popham ran out Todd Scrace to take a third.

When Lee Cole bowled Kalann Nessling, Cullompton were all out for 183. Their last four wickets had fallen for just one run.

Jack Grandfield (43) and Jason Parr (47) had been the leading scores for Cully when the going was good. Indeed, they were 163 for four before Grandfield got out and skipper James Blackmore must be wondering how on earth they lost from there?

McEndoo was the hero of the moment, but James Thomas (2-33) and Moore (3-24) both played big roles too.

Earlier, Popham top scored with 68 for B&P, batting on and on until the sixth wicket went.

McEndoo (30) and Cole (23) chipped in towards the final total of 191 for eight.

FILLEIGH made it six on the trot on their way to second place in the C Division East when they beat lowly Countess Wear by 80 runs.

Justin Saker’s run of form continued with 56 in Filleigh’s total of 180 all out.

Saker and Ryan Bowden (26) opened up with 85. The only other score of note was James  Campbell with 34, which helped add 45 for the last two wickets.

John Bendall (5-26) was the pick of the bowlers for Countess Wear.

Countess Wear lost the game in the time it took to slide from 43 for none to 65 for six.

Manraj Johal (24) was the top scorer for the Wear, who were bowled out for 100 in the 29^th over.

Campbell (2-13) and Ryan Bowden (3-22) did the early damage, laving John Hickman (4-37) to tidy up.

BRETT Garner and Ian Gooding were both among the runs as Kilmington thrashed Uplyme by 135 runs.

Kilmington racked up 319 for nine in 45 overs, pointed there by Tom Gooding (38) and Garner (81) with an opening stand of 61.

Garner was second out for 81 having taken the score to 152 for two with  Ian Gooding (54).

Mike Van Den Berg picked up a couple of wickets, but the run-getting resumed as Glen Harding (31) settled in.

Uplyme were all out n reply for 184 having run into early trouble against Josh Short (4-50) and Craig Seward (2-31).

Steve Batey (37) and Rob Thom (22) clocked up 46, then James Whetlor (35) and Tom Daniel (31) got the score up to 177 for six.

There wasn’t much to come after that as the next three wickets went for just seven runs.
