BRIXHAM lost by 10 wickets for the second week running, this time to second-placed Exeter.

Alfonso Thomas took three wickets and there were two each for Dom Bess and Rob Holman as Brixhan subsided to 125 all out.

Corné Dry with 62 off 17 balls was Brixham’s leading scorer and put on 75 for the fourth wicket with Adam Edwards (20).

Issac Withington made 21 not out down the order

Exeter openers Rob Holman (57) and Blake Reed (60) needed just 20 overs to knock off the runs.

Left-hander Holman not nine fours in a 70-balls stay and Aussie Reed faced 50 and hit 12 boundaries.

It has been largely gloom and doom for Brixham’s 1st XI this season as they are going straight back to the A Division after a solitary season in the top flight.

The 2nd XI have fared somewhat better though, climbing up to second in the B Division West with one game to go.

If Brixham win at Ashburton this Saturday, and Abbotskerswell lose at Tavistock, they could go up as champions.

Any other combination of results will send Brixham into a promotion play-off against either Bideford, Seaton or Sidmouth 3rd XI on September 10.
