Ben Green - off to Dubai with the young Lions

DEVON duo Ben Green and Dom Bess have had their winters mapped out by England performance squad managers.

Green and Bess, who play for Exeter when not required by Somerset, were England U19 players this season.

Green is one of three Somerset players promoted from the U19 squad into the Young Lions, a stepping stone to the full Lions team.

The former Exeter School student will hook up with the Young Lions for a training camp in November, prior to spending most of December playing and training in Dubai.

The Dubai camp is part of the warm-up process for a tour to India next year.

Bess, who took eight wickets for 59 runs on his First Class debut for Somerset against Warwickshire last month, is off to Australia again this winter.

Bess was sent by Somerset to the Darren Lehmann Academy in Perth last winter to work on his game.

England are sponsoring a winter placement in Sydney for Bess, where he will be apprenticed to an approved coach, possibly former Australian spinner Stuart Macgill, who played in Devon for Heathcoat and Exmouth in the 1990s.
