THE APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS NOW PASSED, THEREFORE NO FURTHER APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

This is an ECB funding programme that is now in its seventh year and is available to all Devon Cricket affiliated clubs.  Each County Cricket Board across the country has been allocated a finite pot of money to spread across these clubs and so the purpose of this article is for me to outline the process that Devon Cricket (DCB) will be following this year in terms of allocating funding.

Working with Cricket Leagues is becoming increasingly important, particularly in addressing the issues around declining participation.  Weather can also be a key factor in reducing the amount of cricket played. We are delighted to announce that this year the scheme will be again be partnered by the Devon Cricket League

Before detailing how the scheme will be working in Devon for 2017, please see below some key messages regarding the scheme:

  • The EWCT Small Grant Scheme 2017 is targeted at helping clubs to make small changes to improve their long term sustainability and / or to increase the number of games played.
  • Devon Cricket (DCB) have an allocated budget of £30,000 from the EWCT Small Grant Scheme which has been increased to £34,000 thanks to an additional £4,000 from the Devon Cricket League.
  • Applicants can apply for grants between £1000 (minimum) and £4,000 (maximum).  Please note that a minimum of 10% partnership funding will be required.
  • The deadline for applications to be submitted to Devon Cricket is Friday 20th January 2017.
  • Clubs that were successful in receiving funding through the EWCT Small Grant Scheme 2016 will not be eligible to apply for funding through the 2017 scheme.

A copy of the new application form is available via the link on the right hand side of this page.

The Process for Devon Clubs wishing to apply to the EWCT Small Grants Scheme 2017

As I am sure you can appreciate, a figure of £34,000 to spread between all Devon Cricket affiliated clubs is not a huge sum of money.  In total we have 100+ clubs that qualify for the scheme of which 18 received funding through the scheme last year.  This means there are still a large number of clubs that are eligible for funding in 2017.  Clearly, this means that we are not going to be able to support huge projects, and we would like to ensure that we can support as many worthy projects as possible.

With this in mind, please read the guidance notes (link on right) and have a think about potential projects that your club may wish to put forward. When doing this please pay particular attention to the types of projects that are eligible, and not eligible, and please consider the fact that Devon has £34,000 to allocate across the whole of the county.  After considering these things, and you have a project that you wish to put forward, please complete the application form (link on right) and return to me with two quotes by Friday 20th January 2017.

Following January 20th, the DCB will appoint an representative panel that will meet and review all applications that have been put forward.  Please note that it is at the discretion of this panel as to which projects are recommended to the ECB. This process will be completed by Friday 3rd March 2017 and all applicants will receive feedback as to whether their projects have been recommended or not. Please note that even once projects have been endorsed by the DCB it is still up to the ECB for final approval.

I hope this clear and understandable, essentially eligible clubs need to complete an application form for the Small Grant Scheme by Friday 20th January 2017 at the latest. However, if you would like further clarification or wish to discuss anything relating to the scheme in more detail please do not hesitate to get in touch.
