TORQUAY Cricket Club scorer Nick Evanson has been appointed to the under-19 one-day international between England and India in August.

The game is at Taunton on Wednesday, August 16 and is Evanson’s first international appointment.

Evanson, the recruitment officer for the Devon Association of Cricket Officials, is one of most qualified scorers in Devon.

The 46-year-old civil servant has been scoring for Torquay since 1986 – and has not missed a 1st XI game since 1989.

He is one of only two qualified level three scores in Devon – the highest grade available. The other is Exmouth and Devon scorekeeper Rachel Tozer.

Evanson’s previous prestige appointments include acting as Duckworth-Lewis manager at Lord’s for a one-day game between Middlesex and Glamorgan.

When his Torquay commitments allow, he has scored for the MCC and Worcestershire 2nd XI.

Last season his commitment to Torquay and scoring was recognised with an Outstanding Service to Cricket Award – and OSCA – from the Devon Cricket Board.
