The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) recently launched the first nationwide entry-level participation programme for cricket, with the aim of getting 50,000 boys and girls excited by the game this year.

A new generation of families will be introduced to the game through All Stars Cricket, a major new grassroots initiative which starts in May.

All Stars Cricket will be delivered through local cricket clubs and centres across England and Wales this summer, giving 5-8 year olds their first experience of the game.

Working across Somerset, Devon, Dorset and Cornwall, Somerset County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that all children who sign up to All Stars Cricket will be offered a free ticket to watch a NatWest T20 Blast or International U19 match* at the Cooper Associates County Ground this summer.

With four games to choose from, all those who sign up will be sent a link towards the end of May which will allow them to register their interest with their preferred match date:

  • Somerset v Hampshire, Wednesday 26th July, 17:30
  • Somerset v Kent, Saturday 12th August, T20, 14:30 (also includes Western Storm v Loughborough Lightening, KSL at Midday)
  • Somerset v Glamorgan, Sunday 13th August, T20, 14:30
  • England U19s v India U19s, One Day International (U19s), 10:30

On finalising their commitment to All Stars Cricket and the 150 Clubs who have signed up in the region thus far, Somerset County Cricket Club’s CEO Guy Lavender said: “The Devon Cricket Board do a fantastic job to engage young children at grassroots level and the introduction of All Stars Cricket will allow them to further that reach.

“As a County Club, it is vital we support these initiatives and encourage new faces to the game as these young children are our future, be it as a player or spectator. So far 150 Clubs across the South West have signed up to All Stars Cricket and through our ticket offer, we look forward to rewarding them to a day out at the Cooper Associates County Ground this summer.”

Matt Cooke from the Devont Cricket Board said: “All Stars Cricket is a fantastic way of introducing young children to playing cricket and thanks to support from Somerset County Cricket Club it will also now give the children the chance to watch their first match too.”
