SHOBROOKE Park steamed to a second successive win in the B Division when they beat Barton by five wickets.

It was a low-scoring affair at Cricketfield Road, where the home side were skittled out for 86.

Kiwi Craig James (2-33) and Ben Trenaman (4-27) did early damage, leaving Dan Robbins (3-17) to got thought the middle order.

Only two Barton batters made double figure scores – skippe Adam Parker (27) and Nathan Beech,

Next best was nine then a couple of eights with five batters not managing a run between them.

Mark Gilmour (2-19) struck twice early on for Barton, who had Shobrooke a nervy 28 for two.

Opener Jon James made 23 and bits and pieces from Chris Simpson (10) and James (16no) got the job done.

Two wins put Shobrooke second in the table, a point behind Ipppelen and one ahead of Abbotskerswell, whom they entertain this Saturday.

Skipper Simpson said on a damp day in Torbay it was a good toss to win.

He added: “Everyone bowled well and we didn't drop a catch.

“We had to face a tough period before tea when we lost a couple, but Jon James batted really well under tough conditions.

“It was getting tight before Craig James went in and smashed a few boundaries got us over the line.

“I am really happy with the start to the season. Hopefully we can make it three from three this week.”
