BIDEFORD got the bounceback win skipper Paul Heard wanted when they hammered Seaton by nine wickets.

Seaton were all out for 121 with more than six overs to go – opener Matt Hewer top scoring on 42.

After Hewer was third out on 73 wickets fell regularly. Only Steve Pritchard (23) and Phil Collins (14) put up much resistance.

Alex Hannam (3-27) got some serious batsmen out. Mike Lemmings (3-9) ushered out Pritchard and the tail-enders.

James Ford (53no) and Matt Shepherd (24) made a start then Tom Brend (38no) joined Ford to knock off the last 88 needed to win.

Kersley Sutton’s one over costing 25 runs hastened Seaton’s demise.

Said Heard: “Exactly the response we needed.

“Our bowlers were patient and our fielding sharp.

“Then we were clinical with the bat, unlike last week against Tavistock.

“Matt Shepherd set the tone in the first two overs, then James Ford and Tom Brend did the rest.”

Disappointed Seaton captain Ben Morgan said: “Bideford were better than us in all areas - we were poor.

“Our batting set the tone. People need to take responsibility for their own game.”
