BRIXHAM came a cropper by 207 when they ran into early A Division leaders Hatherleigh.

There was little or no respite for the Brixham bowlers as Hatherleigh cracked along to 335 for six in 49 overs.

Kiwi Matt Thomas fired 51 off 64 balls – eight fours and a six – at the top of the order and put got Hathereigh to 122 for three.

Matt Parsons (3-51) got Thomas out, and followed up with Rob Fishleigh soon after, not that it did Brixham much good!

Captain for the day Rob Cockwill bashed the bowling for 62 off 70 balls during a stand of 77 with Tom Parsons.

Parsons went on to make a 72 off 58 balls – and worse was yet to come for Brixham’s bowlers.

Charlie Nielson went in at 216 for five when Cockwill was dismissed and put the bowling to the sword.

Nielson went past Parsons from a standing start to make 67 off 34 balls with six sixes and four fours in a stand of 117 for the sixth wicket.

Parsons, was on 33 not out when Nielson went in and contributed 39 to the stand.

Amid the wreckage of the bowling figures, Tim Robinson’s 10 overs for 36 runs stood out.

Robinson top scored for Brixham with 46 in their reply – one of three double-figure scores in a total of 128 all out.

Natal youngster Jason Oaks made 27 and Tom Blundell chipped in with 20 – 18 of which came in sixes!

Brixham subsided from 67 for one to 74 for five – Thomas (3-37) among the wickets – wobbled to 97 for six when they lost Robinson and lost the last four wickets for 11 runs after Blundell fell to Jack Cherrington (2-10).
