SANDFORD are three from three at the top of the A Division following a comfortable seven-wicket win over Lewdown.

Pete Steer had four wickets for 22 runs on his promotion to the first team as Lewdown were bundled out for 101 in the 28th over.

Sandford skipper Richard Foan thumped 61 at the top of the order to put Sandford well in their way to victory before working out run rates in the rain became an issue.

Victory keeps Sandford second in the table, six points behind leaders Hatherleigh and nine ahead of third-placed Chudleigh, whom theyvisit this Saturday.

"Hopefully we can have a game that is not weather affected,” said Foan,” whose side won inside 16 overs.

Foan said although Brian Steer and Leach bowled well, taking six wickets between them, Lewdown were under pressure from the start.

Jamie Palmer bowled six overs for eight runs up top and Ramesh Lakmal had one for 18 off six.

Leach (2-31) and Steer (4-22) were the prime wicket takers, running through the Lewdown middle order.

Tallan Burns top scored on 24. Best of the rest was Adrian Clements, who made 14 going in at 74 for seven.

When Sandford batted Foan flogged the bowling while Neil Bettis propped up an end.

Of the 75 on the board when Foan got out, he had made 61.

Bettis went soon after to Billy Searle, the Premiership rugby player who was with Bristol last season, and Ben Clement was a second scalp for Dinecho Visser on 79.

Any worries about a collapse were dispelled as Matt Theedom (13no) and pro Ramesh Lakmal (9no) knocked off the remaining runs without mishap.
