KENTISBEARE made it three wins on the bounce at the top of the D Division West when they beat Axminster by three wickets in a rain-affected game.

Axminster were glad of a patient 66 by Dave Field – 10 boundaries in a 101-ball stay – for getting to 164 all out,

Kents were asked to score 153 in 40 overs to win and got there with more than three overs to spare thanks to an unbeaten 53 from Martin Howe.

Howe rescued Kents from the depths of 58 for five after Paul Miller had taken four wickets for seven runs in eight overs.

Kents are at home to Topsham this Saturday. Barnstaple who were top, dropped back to third as they were rained off against Upottery,

Topsham St James’s game against Chardstock was another casualty of the weather,

Halberton are up to second after beating Tiverton by 40 runs in the derby clash.

Lee Hooper (81) and J Mayes (73) top scored for Halberton in their 244 all out – S Reed taking six for 46.

Tiverton had a go – Tim Reed makng 55 and Dane Williams 60 – but fell behind the clock and slowed to 204 for eight.

Woodbury & Newton St Cyres lost for the third week running, this time by 64 runs at Honiton.

Pete Matravers hit 47 for Honiton in their 160 for nine. Woodbury & Newton St Cyres were all out for 96 in reply.
