KENN stay out in front at the top of the D Division West courtesy of a 138-run victory over visiting Yelverton.

Yelverton’s bowlers were on top at first with Steve Colmer (3-56) and Sam Crompton (3-53) reducing Kenn to 74 for five. Martin Swannel (32) was the only batter to hang around.

The tempo changed when skipper James Mason went out to join James Gosling.

Mason overtook Gosling from a standing start to make 89 in a stand of 140 for the seventh wicket.

Gosling contributed 54 towards a new divisional record stand for the seventh wicket. The previous best was the 123 scored by Mike Chetwynd and Mike Jinks for Yelverton against Ashburton in 2005.

Yelverton never recovered fully from a poor start that saw them slump to 33 for four.

Ben Grove (24) and Phil Mutlow (19) delayed the inevitable for a while during their stand of 41.

Once Peter Chislett (2-19) broke the stand it was downhill all the way to 112 all out.

CHRIS Harrison administered six of the best in Chelston & Kingskerswell’s 91-run win over Exwick.

Chelston & Kerswell totted up 197 all out in the last of their 45 overs – Mark Faulkner leading the way with 55.

Harrison then took six wickets for 48 runs to help send Exwick sliding to 106 all out.

Harrison (28) and Steve Waters (43) had given C&K a 72-run start before Lewis Cox (2-26) split them up.

Mike Etherington (24) and Faulkner, who was eighth out at 192, kept the board ticking over.

Exwick’s  veteran bowler Rehann Caryl ran through the bottom half of the C&K order to finish with five for 35.

Opener Howard Rose (37) was the only Exwick batter to last long once Harrison started taking wickets.

With Harrison bowled out after 10 overs, Pat Duke (2-15) and Russ Bennett tied up the loose ends.

ST Marychurch Old Boys were beaten by 86 runs at Whitchurch in a 30-over affair.

Andy Wallace (46) top scored for Whitchurch with 46 in their total of 167 for eight.

Wallace and Richard Hall (38) put on 85 for the third wicket.

Pick of the bowlers for St Marychurch with three for 19 was Marcus Thompson.

St Marychurch had a nightmare start that saw them slump to 12 for four against Dave Northey (2-24) and Darren Sambells (3-7).

Thompson (42) restored some semblance of order, but lacked support at the other end.

Ben Hodge (2-16) and Marc Kerswill (2-18) got into the lower order as Saints were bowled out for 81 in the 26th over.
