ASHES winner and Somerset record-breaker Marcus Trescothick will be playing in the James Hildreth Testimonial game at South Devon next week.

The Newton Abbot club are hosting Somerset on Tuesday, June 20 in a Twenty20 fixture.

The team is still being put together and its final make-up may vary depending on international call-ups.

James HildrethCraig Overton is already in the England T20 squad for the three-match series against South Africa, which coincides with the match at South Devon.

Jamie Overton – Craig’s twin – and Jack Leach could be in the England Lions squad for a game also against South Africa next week.

Definites for the game are Trescothick, Somerset captain Tom Abell and, of course, Hildreth.

Trescothick recently passed the landmark of 25,000 First Class runs and scored his 50th century for Somerset, breaking a record set by Harold Gimblett between 1935-54.

Trescothick was an Ashes winner with England in 2005 – one of three successive seasons when he scored 1,000 Test runs in a calendar year.

Along with the rest of the Somerset team, Trescothick will be running coaching for South Devon CC’s young cricketers prior to the match.

South Devon’s new £10,000 all-electronic scoreboard will be officially switched on by Hildreth before the game.

Torquay United manager Kevin Nicholson has accepted an invitation to be a guest player in the South Devon team for the game.

South Devon CC has become a popular addition to Somerset's testimonial circuit having stage a hugely successful game at the Rec Trust ground for Peter Trego in 2015.

A crowd of around 900 watched the game and enjoyed a cameo appearance by West Indies star Chris Gayle, who marched out to bat from a hospitality tent unannounced and started belting the bowling around.

South Devon are making it an afternoon out for cricket lovers, who can settle down with a drink or two in the VIP tent from mid-afternoon onwards.

Tickets for the VIP marquee are £20 each, or six for £110.
