U15 Devon  v U15 Somerset at Woodbury CC on Saturday 17th June

On an extremely warm day with hardly a breathe of air, Devon put Somerset into bat. Buoyed up with an early wicket with Somerset on 7-1, Devon's Ellen Day (7-1-13-1) and Hollie Perkin (8-2-19-2) opened the bowling with great confidence. A partnership of 59 from Tilly Scull (47) and Harriet Dimdore-Mills (20), put Somerset in a commanding position. But despite the wides bowled from Devon, Somerset only added a further 18 to their total of 120 in 11 overs and were bowled out in the 36th over.

The match appeared to be a game of two halves, with an early wicket from Somerset and Devon were 1-13 in the sixth over. Unfortunately the top four only put only 17 runs between them; and put pressure on the middle order to make headway and form partnerships. Only Holly Elsworth (27) managed to play against the spin Somerset attack. With Devon being on 79-7, it looked like the end was imminent! However, with a partnership of 23 from tenth and eleventh, Hollie Perkin and Katie Harman almost took Devon over the line, sadly lost by 10 runs.
