IVYBRIDGE drifted closer to the A Division drop slots after going down by eight runs to Brixham.

As Brixham are one of the three teams below the Bridge in the table, it was a bad game to lose.

Losing at Boundary Park leaves Ivybridge nine points clear of the relegation places with runaway leaders Hatherleigh to play this Saturday.

Brixham made 201 all out in the last of their 50 overs – South African Jason Oakes top scoring with 73.

Pick of the bowlers for Ivbridge with four for 38 was Harry Solomon.

Tim Robinson (26) and Tom Hopper (47) put on 52 for Brixham’s first wicket, then Oakes and Hopper added 60 for the second wicket. Matthew Caunter made 28 at fourth wicket down.

Brixham had wickets in hand in the latter stages and lost the final five for 21 runs James Bullock taking three for 26.

Ivybridge were 26 for none and 28 for three – Lee Upham (3-25) among the wickets – then progressed to 120 for five with Sam Northmore (33) and Josh Zimmerman (36) among the runs.

Zimmerman, Kelvin Trent (33) and George Thompson (27) kept the chase going despite interference from Matt Parsons (3-43).

It started to go wrong at 174 for six. Mike Barron (3-31) got involved and Ivybridge slid to 193 all out.
