BRIXHAM’S revival stalled when they went down by five-wickets at Budleigh Salterton.

Two wins in three starts had taken Brixham of the bottom and in sight of safety.

The pressure is on Brixham from both directions now as bottom side Plymstock beat Plympton – and Chudleigh immediately above triumphed over Lewdown.

However, Ivybridge’s roasting by Hatherleigh dropped them within four points of Brixham in the second relegation place, so it wasn’t  all gloom and doom back at Boundary Park.

South African Jason Oakes continued his run of scores with 69 in a Brixham total of 193 all out.

Tom Hopper (27) helped Oakes get Brixham to 50 for three then Andy Pugh (51) joined the South African to add 96 for the fourth wicket.

Trevor Anning, an old Devon team-mate of Pugh’s, topped Budleigh’s bowling returns with three for 39.

Sid Fereday, Matt Junk and James Leat had two apiece.

Opener Elliot Rice led the Budleigh run chase with 67 not out.

A stand of 47 with Steve Booth (22) set-up he chase, the Ben Phillips (51) joined Rice to take Budleith most of the way there.

Oakes (3-44) delayed the inevitable, but Budleigh still won with more than 16 overs to go.
