KENTISBEARE dropped back to second in the table following their 111-run defeat by Chardstock in the derby clash.
Ed Brown slammed a top score of 116 in Chardstock’s tally of 252 for six. Tom Warren chipped in with 79 not out.
Wickets came at a price for Kents. Tom Martin had two for 59 and Josh Farley 2-61. Andy Chave (1-30) bowled nine tidy overs.
Kents were all out for 141 in 34 overs. Paul Tatterton made 77 and Scott Chappell 30. No one else made more than eight!
Richard Pyman, the former Dorset seamer, took four Kents’ wickets for 41 runs and there were two each for skipper Rob Hutchings and Gary Larcombe.
The new leaders, by seven points, are Barnstaple & Pilton thanks to a 21-run win over Tiverton.
Sam Read (3-23) had B&P in trouble at 16 for three but they recovered to make 206 for eight in 45 overs.
Brady Saunders (32) and James Russell (61) put on 82 then Jamie Tapp (57) joined Russell to add another 44 for the fifth wicket.
Wickets tumbled in the dash for runs at the end – Dane Williams (4-43) cashing in for Tiverton.
Tiverton were held to 185 for seven in reply, getting little loose change from the B&P bowlers.
Saunders capped a man-of-the-match display with three for 23 from nine overs. Lee Cole (2-26) gave little away in his nine overs.
Richard Pugsley went in when Tiverton were 59 for three and batted through for an unbeaten 61.
JONNY Chilcott top scored with 74 as Halberton & Sampford Peverell walloped Upottery by 99 runs.
Chilcott and James Mayes (49) put on 118 for the fifth wicket in HSP’s 228 for five. Earlier, openers Lee Hooper (33) and Andy Blake (42) notched 74.
Upottery were all out for 129 – Ryan Pullman making 25 to rescue them from the depths of 24 for four.
Josh Kellaway led the bowling effort with four for 27 after Joe Parkinson (2-13) and Richie Durrant (2-19) blew out the top four.
HONITON'S 293 for eight was always too many for Axminster, who were bowled out for 120.
Tom Strawbridge (44) and Mike Docherty (62) got early runs then Adam Holme (33) and Joe Dixon (44) hoisted 72 for the fifth wicket.
Docherty completed a man-of-the-match performance with four wickets for 26 runs as Axminster were dismissed for 120. Skipper Paul Miller top scored with 39.
TOPSHAM St James moved away from the basement area thanks to a six-wicket victory over Woodbury & Newton St Cyres.
Woodbury collapsed from 77 for three to 83 for seven after losing Shenan Grossberg (25), but scraped up 141 all out thanks in part to Rob Mann’s 27 at number nine.
Dan Armstrong (4-31) did most of the damage – and he hadn’t finished with Woodbury & NSC yet.
Armstrong (43no) put on 59 with Matt Garner (63) and 40 with Callum Trevleaven (17) to get the game won with eight overs in hand.
