BARNSTAPLE & Pilton are 12 points clear of Upottery at the top of the D Division East after beating lowly Woodbury & Newton St Cyres by six wickets
Woodbury were held to 122 for nine in 37 overs in a game reduced in length by a rain break.
Mickey Beer, who was the last man out, top scored with 26.
The wickets mainly went in ones and two, although Lee Cole (3-14) and Jack Moore (2-12) stood out.
Andy Barton (17) and Jason Smith (12) got B&P started. George McEndoo (18) kept things going and Moore (45) effectively wrapped things up.
It’s the big one this Saturday as B&P are away to Upottery, who will be playing on their new ground in the village for the first time.
Skipper Steve Moore returns after more than a month out due to injury.
Jason Smith and Paul Schiller are absent, but the Tapps – James and Finlay – come in.
KENTISBEARE are down to fifth in the D East table after losing the derby clash with Honiton by three wickets.
Scott Chappell and Josh Farley were joint top scorers for Kent with 41 each in their tally of 228 all out..
There were useful chip-ins from David Armstrong (36), Neil Farley (32) and Rory Tatterton (23).
Alan Ostler (3-38) nicked the bowling honors from Rob Ingham (2-26) and Michael Docherty (2-33).
A stand of 115 between openers Dave Haysom (71) and Tom Strawbridge (31) got Honiton up and running.
Pete Matravers (40) and Adam Holmes (39) knocked off most of the rest in a stand of 56 for the fourth wicket.
Tom Martin (4-34) was easily the pick of the bowlers for Honiton.
TIVERTON collapsed in a heap at Axminster where they were skittled out for 30 and lost by 10 wickets.
Matt Pile performed the hat-trick on his way to taking five for 25. Dave Hayball took four for 5.
Ben Stone (19) was the only batter in double figures.
Pile opened up and scored 20 not out as Axminster knocked off the runs in 6.4 overs.
TOPSHAM St James won on the chase with an over to spare when they hosted Halberton & Sampford Peverell.
James Mayes hit 52 and Jonny Chilcott made 44 in H&SP’s total of 225 for nine. The wickets were shared round.
Mark Phillips hit a run-a-ball 99 for TSJ and shared a stand of 158 with Sam Armstong to get the chase motoring.
Phil Kelly (19no) and Aiden Pring (10no) tied up the loose ends.
Upottery marked their first league game on their new ground in the village with a 98-run win over Chardstock.
Upottery proceeded to 223 for six in their 45 overs, led there by James Mitcham (63) and Rob Tasker (53).
Mitcham and Tasker put on 88 for the fourth wicket after Tom Wyatt (26) and Matt Button-Stephens chipped in at the start.
Tom Warren and Robert Blackwell had a couple of wickets each for Chardstock – Warren’s (2-89) costing rather a lot!
Chardstock’s innings seldom got out of second gear – and it didn’t help that they were without batter Rob Hutchings.
Ed Brown (33) and Nathan Copp (26) had the best of the bits-and-pieces scores in a togal of 125 all out.
Man of the match Mitcham took three for 17 from eight overs. Ryan Pullman (3-23) and Paul Wakefield (3-15) did the rest of the damage.
