WILL there be a cat fight when Devon Lions and Dorset Leopards square up at Bournemouth Sports Club on Sunday?

The Lions are fresh from defeating Warwickshire Bears Academy at Torquay by two wickets – and will fancy their chances against the Leopards.

A strong Leopards side containing five current Dorset Minor County players won the corresponding fixture at Torquay last season by 39 runs.

Dorset have picked four players with current Minors experience this season.

Devon’s side includes Toby Codd, Reid Mawdsley and Joe Thompson, all of whom have featured in the Minor Counties Championship this season.

More interesting are the less experienced players who are being given the chance to impress for the first time.

Bovey Tracey’s opening bowler Chris Yabsley has been bowling frugal spells in the Premier Division since breaking into the 1st XI this season.

Ashley Causey – a batter - is another youngster out of the Bovey stable.

Left-arm spinner Jacob Caunter’s form for Plympton – 17 wickets at a shade below 13 each including a five-for-28 haul against Budleigh – have earned him a call-up.

Caunter can bat too, He averages 42 in the league and has an unbeaten half-century against Sandford this season in his log-book.
