Devon Inter District Competitions Rules:

Playing Regulations:

Managers will abide by the ECB directive in connection with fast bowlers in respect of match and practice restrictions. ECB youth fielding regulations will also apply to all matches. 

Any player playing in this competition must wear a helmet when batting and when standing up to the stumps when keeping wicket 

No player in the under 15 age group or younger shall be allowed to field closer than 8 yards (7.3 metres) from the middle stump, except behind the wicket on the off side, until the batsman has played at the ball. For players in the under 13 age group or below the distance is 11 yards (10 metres). These minimum distances apply even if the player is wearing a helmet. Should a young player in these age groups come within the restricted distance the umpire must stop the game immediately and instruct the fielder to move back. 

The Manager shall be responsible for informing the umpires which players are in the under 15 and 13 years age group or younger in any particular match Umpires to strictly implement Law 42.6 (bowling of short pitched balls), Law 42.7 (dangerous and unfair bowling) and Law 42.8 (bowling of fast high full pitches). 

For the under 9/10/11/12/Girls 13's & 15's age groups ONLY a wide ball or no-ball will result in a penalty of TWO runs which shall be in addition to any other runs scored being awarded instantly on the call of Wide ball. With the exception of the last over of each innings the ball WILL COUNT as one of the over. A wide ball or no-ball in the last over of each innings shall not count as one of the over. (The penalty of two runs remains plus any other additional runs scored). 

It is agreed wherever possible matches will be played on grass pitches but should inclement weather force the game to be played on a non-turf pitch this would be permitted. 

Pitch lengths: 

Under 9 – 18 yards, Under 10 & 11 – 20 yards, Under 12, 13, 13 Girls – 21 yards, Under 14/15/15 Girls 22 yards.

Boundaries should take into account the age of the participating players. 

All matches (Excluding under 9’s and 10’s festivals) would be 12 a side batting a nominated 11, fielding 11 or by agreement 12 a side in both. Players, on returning to the field, may bowl immediately. 

Under 9’s Festivals will be 8 a side pairs format (Festivals rules below) and Under 10’s Festivals will be 10 a side pairs format (Festivals rules below).

All matches will have a drinks breaks agreed prior to the commencement of the match. The under 11/10 may have breaks at 10/20/30 overs but this option must be used with caution and common sense. The tea interval will be extended to 30 minutes. 

 

Points:

Under 10 to Under 15 including girls.

The side with the highest number of points would win the group and points would be awarded as follows:- 

(a) 10 points be awarded for an outright win. 

       6 points for a draw with the higher score. 

       4 points for a draw with the lower score. 

       5 points for a tie or draw with the scores level 

       6 points for a cancellation or abandonment 

       No points shall be awarded for an outright defeat. 

(b)    Bonus Points 

Batting:

(i)             A batting point shall be scored for the first fifty runs (under 10s/11/12's/13’s Girls & 15’s Girls) and one point for such subsequent twenty-five runs up to a total of 150 (MAX 5)

(ii)            A batting point shall be scored for the first 75 runs (under 13's) and one point for such subsequent twenty-five runs up to a total of 175 (MAX 5)

(iii)           A batting point shall be scored for the first 100 runs (under 14's & 15's) and one point for such subsequent twenty-five runs up to a total of 200 (MAX 5)

(iv)          One point shall be scored by the winning side batting second for every two wickets standing at the end of the game. A maximum of five bonus batting points can be awarded a team. 
 

Bowling:

(v)           A bowling point shall be scored for every two wickets taken. A side who cannot bat a full eleven, the bowling side gains the maximum of five points when all the wickets are taken. 

Bonus points scored prior to an abandonment of a game shall stand. 

Match Results:

The home manager will be responsible for completing and submitting a match result sheet. Please return to the results secretary by the Monday evening following the fixture. Please include a match report with your results sheet, so media coverage can be maximised. Please also try and include photographs.

Balls:

Two new match balls to be available for each game. (5½ oz under 14 &15; 4¾ oz under 9/10/11/12/13/ & 13 Girls. Under 15 Girl’s will use 5oz balls).  Two new balls will be available for Under 9 & 10 festivals.

Player Qualification:

All players must be qualified and willing to play county youth cricket for Devon.

All players must be under the appropriate age at midnight on the preceding 31st August.

District qualification will be as follows:

1)    To be eligible to play for a district, a player must have played their youth cricket in that districts league in the previous season. 

2)      In extenuating circumstances, but with the specific written agreement between the relevant District Coordinators (not district age group managers), a player could move district. The reason(s) for such as a change must be fully justifiable. (e.g. moving house). In case of a dispute the matter to be referred to the DCBYA.
 

Devon Inter District Under 9 FESTIVAL Competition

·        Each team shall comprise 8 players  

·        Each game shall consist of 1 innings per side. Each innings shall be of 16 overs duration.  

·        All four district will be represented at each festival. Order of play will be agreed prior to the festivals with all teams playing two matches (semi finals - finals and a 3 & 4 play off). 

·        The batting side shall be divided into pairs. Each pair shall bat for 4 overs. Pairs shall change at the end of the 4th, 8th and 12th over.  

·      Batsman shall have unlimited lives, but each life shall result in five runs being deducted from the total. Batsman shall change ends at the fall of each wicket except on the last ball of an over. 

·      Each player on the fielding side MUST bowl, with the exception of the wicket-keeper. No bowler shall bowl more than 3 overs. 

·        Each team shall commence its innings with a score of TWO HUNDRED RUNS. 

·        The winning team shall be the side scoring the highest number of runs after deductions for the fall of wickets. 

·     In accordance with the Laws of the Game a substitute shall be allowed to take the place of an injured player. Such substitute shall only act as a non-striker whilst his team is batting. (In such circumstances the live batsman shall receive continuously.) Such substitute shall only act as a fielder whilst his team is fielding. Any over(s) which would have been bowled by the injured player shall be shared between the remaining six fielders without exceeding their allocation

 

Devon Inter District Under 10 FESTIVAL Competition

·        Each team shall comprise 10 players  

·        Each game shall consist of 1 innings per side. Each innings shall be of 20 overs duration.  

·        All four district will be represented at each festival. Order of play will be agreed prior to the festivals with all teams playing two matches (semi finals - finals and a 3 & 4 play off).

·       Each player on the fielding side MUST bowl, with the exception of the wicket keeper. No bowler shall bowl more than 4 overs. 

·        Each team shall commence its innings with a score of TWO HUNDRED RUNS. 

·        The winning team shall be the side scoring the highest number of runs after deductions for the fall of wickets.
