The Tarka team that won at Plympton

TARKA Ladies stay top of the Devon Ladies League after a nail-biting win at Plympton.

The North Devon CC side made 112 for eight, then bowled out Plympton for 111 to win by one run. It doesn't get much closer than that.

The track was difficult and the outfield long and damp so run scoring was tricky.

Eluned Davies contributed a steady 23 to the Tarka score.

Lydia Clements added a quick 23 before being Cait O'Keefe snared her lbw.

Susie McDonald (44) and Rebecca Halliday (17) were Plympton's leading run scorers.

Wickets fell quickly to excellent bowling and fielding by the Tarka girls and well-set fields by captain Lauren Bowden.

Rose Ball decimated the strong Plympton batting line up, Amanda Higginbottom and O'Keefe going for ducks.

Susie McDonald and Rebecca Halliday dug in and batted solidly, although runs were just as elusive as they had been for the Tarka girls.

When Halliday fell to Carmen Clements, Plympton were wobbling again. Ellie Holland dismissed McDonald then Jemma Horton.

Carmen Clements cleaned up the rest, taking four wickets for 12 runs off 4.2 overs.
