KENN suffered a rare setback against Yelverton, who beat them by 68 runs at Trehill.

The D West title was already safely stashed in Kenn’s locker before they met the second-placed side, who have trailed them all season.

Richard Townsend (31) and Christiaan Van Niekerk (36) were the leading run getters for Yelverton in their 148 all out.

The last five wickets went for 15 runs with Hugh Stronge (3-19) adding to the good work already done by Jack Thomas (3-26).

Van Niekerk then took five for 10 – four of them lbws - as Kenn were dispatched for 73. James Gosling made 29.

Kenn complete their season away to Exwick.

Chelston and Kingskerswell proved too strong for lowly Exwick, easing home by nine wickets at Torre Valley North.

Exwick were held to 141 for seven in 45 overs with principal contributions from Howard Rose (24) and Paul Knott (23).

Chris Harrison was the only casualty on the chase. Surviving opener Steve Waters (77) and Erik Gregerson (50) were the not out batters when the post was passed in the 27th over.

Chelston & Kingskerswell wind-up with St Marychurch Old Boys this Saturday, if they can raise a side.

The Old Boys were forced to cry off a trip to Whitchurch last Saturday due to team- raising problems.
