Dan Wolf - runs for Paignton in the win over Abbotskerswell

PAIGNTON made light work of Abbotskerswell in their A Division curtain-raiser at Two Mile Oak.

Abbots, newly promoted from the B Division, were bowled out for 121 in the 39th of their 50 overs.

George Benton whipped out openers Charlie Mitchell and Elliott Adams for a run between them, Rob Shergold accounted for James Westlake, then new signing Cole Harford worked through the middle order.

Left-armer Harford, who has switched from Barton to Paignton this season, took five wickets for 26 runs on his debut.

Sam Johnston, Abbots’ new overseas player, made 27 and Nick Watkin ground out 42 of 88 balls.

Tail-ender Connor Adams (11) was the only other player to reach double figures.

Noah Wright (24) and Dan Wolf (58) got Abbots away to a 67-run start.

By the time Wolf was second out at 92 the writing was on the wall for Abbots. Richard Ashworth (21no) saw Paignton home.
