PLYMPTON lost a nail-biter away to Bideford by the narrowest margin going – just one run.

Bideford made 211 for seven in their 50 overs with everyone in the top six  making a double figure score. James Ford (29) and Tom Brend (28) set the tone with Ollie Hannam (22), Jamie Lathwell and Matt Shepherd (both 21) and Alex Hannam (28) all chipping in.

Plympton bowler Alex Carr (3-54) went for a few. Craig Donohue (2-31) and Dave Wrench (2-35) were a little more economical.

A stand of 90 between opener David Ackford (62) and Chrisitan Bunney (52) got Plympton down the road to 123 for two on the chase.

When Ackford fell to Tom Brend, at 156 for six, the game was in the balance.

Plympton got down to the last over bowled by Fred King needing 11 to win.

Hakeem Abdullah hit the first ball for six – game on – but King only went for three more runs and the match was lost.
