HEATHCOAT II have yet to drop a point in the D Division East after trouncing Exmouth II by 127 runs.
Lee Dixon rattled out seven fours and four sixes on his way to 80 off 57 balls in Heathcoat’s total of 245 for seven in 45 overs.
Along the way there was a stand of 119 with James Onley-Gregson (62).
Exmouth’s new signing Sean Day (2-30) led the bowling effort. Alex Craib and Ryan Schauffler both bowled tidy spells.
Day then top scored with 58 in Exmouth’s reply of 118 all out. He went in at 21 for one and was ninth out on 117. No one else made more then a dozen.
Dixon (2-17) softened up the early order then Paul Elliott (4-35) dealt with potential troublemakers in the middle order.
Heathcoat are at home to Uplyme this Saturday.
SANDFORD banished memories of their opening day embarrassment by Chardstock – all out for 28 – with a 142-run win at Uplyme.
Shaun Hawkins (35) and Chris Blake (75) led the way with an opening stand of 61 and by the time Blake went the tally was 158 for five.
Rob Stoyle (21) was last man out in a total of 205 for eight.
Steve Batey and Sam Wooster shared six of the wicket to fall.
Uplyme lost Jed Whittington to Shaun Fryatt (4-11) in the first over and nosedived to 14 for seven with Brian Leach (3-17) getting involved.
Rob Thom’s 23 at number eight only delayed the inevitable: all out for 63 in the 27th over.
Sandford entertain Clyst St George this Saturday.
NORTH Devon were unable to build on their first day win over Upottery as they slipped to a 36-run defeat at Countess Wear.
The Wear made a modest 166 for seven thanks mainly to a stand of 61 between James Bogue (40) and Mark Davey (64).
North Devon skipper Richard Screech rang the bowling changes hoping to force a breakthrough. Only Jack Hockin (2-29) took more than one wicket.
Screech was North Devon’s top scorer with 57, but lacked genuine support as his side stumbled to 130 all out.
Joe Kelly made 19, Matt Dart trawled up 10 and no one else made more than eight.
Wear’s bowling honours went to Kav Dias, John Bendall and Inder Singh with three wickets each.
BARNSTAPLE & Pilton came up short on the chase at Upottery, where they lost by just 16 runs.
Two wickets for Jack Moore (2-43) and one for James Lake had Upottery a wobbly 29 for three.
Although skipper Steve Moore kept it tight at one end – he bowled nine overs for seven runs conceded – B&P were leaking runs elsewhere.
James Mitcham (67no) and Rob Tasker (123) helped themselves in a stand of 186 for the fourth wicket. Tasker hit 13 fours and three sixes.
George McEndoo (2-20) broke the stand when he dismissed Tasker.
The target was 223 to win and losing opener McEndoo wasn’t ideal.
Brady Saunders (64) and Jack Moore (95no) put on 154 fir the second wicket and it was game on.
After Saunders went Moore needed more support than he got. The chase ended at 206 for three. Kalann Nessling (0-20) and Paul Wakefield (0-25) gave B&P little to hit in their nine-over spells.
CLYST St George dropped down to third in the D Division East when they went down by six wickets to Chardstock.
Chris Ferro (53) made early runs for Clyst until he was fifth out on 139.
The job of scoring runs was taken over by Steve Bourke, who thumped 74 more in the total of 218 for eight.
Gary Larcombe (3-33) led Chardstock’s bowling effort – and spearheaded the run chase too.
Opener Larcombe finished unbeaten on 130 in the 40.5 overs it needed to knock off the runs.
Along the way there were stands of 49 with Tom Warren (9), 50 with Rob Hutchings (20), 88 with Steve Alsopp (34) and 32 unbroken with Nathan Copp (6).
