Simon Sobczak - 84 for Heathcoat in the win over Uplyme

HEATHCOAT II remain undefeated at the top of the D Division East following a 141-run win over lowly Uplyme.

Skipper Jake Stoneman clattered a maiden league century in Heathcoat’st total of 336 for six.

Stoneman hit 17 four and a six in his 116 and shared in stands of 95 with Mat Parkes (26) then 153 with Simon Sobczak (84).

Upottery were not helped by only having nine men, which left some gaps in the field.

James Whetlor (49) top scored for Uplyme in their total of 195 all out. Jed Whittington was next best on 45 and Niall Waterhouse had 33. Waterhouse and Whttington put on 72 for the sixth wicket.

Sobczak and Paul Elliott had two wickets each for Heathcoat, who will be aiming for four from four at Chardstock on Saturday.

COUNTESS Wear are one off the bottom in the D Division East after going down by 51 runs to visiting Upottery.

There were runs from top to bottom for Upottery in their total of 255 for six. James Mitcham (71) and Rob Tasker put on 66 for the fourth wicket. Kalann Nessling with 32 not out at the end.

Manraj Johal, who has Birmingham League experience with West Bromwich Dartmouth, and Owen Smith took two wickets each.

The Wear were 204 for six when their overs ran out.

Johal made 90 out off 117 balls and hit 12 fours. Support from Dave Jarvis (21) Par Singh (26) and Nathan Bright (21) wasn’t enough to get Wear over the line.

MATT Theedom stared with bat and ball for Sandford II in the seven-run win over Clyst St George.

Theedom, who was unable to travel with the 1stXI to Exeter, lashed 142 in Sandford’s total of 281 for eight.

There were stands of 90 with David Baggs (42) and 109 with Robert Stoyle.

Bertie Creer (3-24) and Steve Bourke (2-44) were the best of the bowlers. Ben Jackson had some tap from Theedom in his three for 68.

Sandford skipper Shaun Hawkins had runs on the board and was able to go for the max-points win with adventurous tactics in the field.

Freddie Creer (47), Sam Read (33) and Bourke all chipped in as the target came down.

Bourke was still there going into the final over, bowled by Theedom, unbeaten on 83 with eight needed to win and Theedom about to bowl.

Bourke went second ball, run out by Theedom, and Ben Jackson went next ball to give Sandford victory with three balls to spare.

Theedom finished with four wickets to add to his earlier runs.

BRADY Saunders and Jack Moore were among the runs in Barnstaple & Pilton’s win over Chardstock in the D Division East.

Opener Saunders made 81 and Moore 90 in B&P’s 45-over total of 248 for three.

Moore and Saunders put on 180 for the second wicket. The stand ended when Rob Hutchings (3-26) accounted for Moore.

Paul Schiller chipped in with a brisk 24 before the overs ran out.

Chardstock slumped to 16 for three in reply, recovered to 92 for four thanks to an Alex Watson half-century, then collapsed to 196 all out.

Chardstock lost their last six wickets for 14 runs with Saunders capping a man-of-the-match performance with four wickets for 12 runs.

EXMOUTH II were three wicket winners at North Devon to move up to fourth in the standings.

James Thomas top scored as North Devon made 169 for nine in their 45 overs. The only significant partnership was the opening one of 54 between Alfie Huxtable (29) and Joe Kelly (22).

Wickets were shared with two each for Ollie Pugsley and Luke Davies and three for Lawrence Greenway.

At 100 for one with Louis Morison (68) still there, Exmouth looked like favourites.

Three wickets for David Hartley (3-37) made it a different game at 100 for four.

Greenway (40) and Ryan Schaufler (24) put on 69 to end any doubt about the outcome.

Barnstaple are away to Clyst St George on Saturday. North Devon make the long trek to Uplyme & Lyme Regis.
