Whatever your preferred App the game against Gloucestershire appeared extremely doubtful from over a week out. After an exceptional spell of weather the trip up to Woodleigh the night before was enhanced by flash floods on the A38 and the forecast for the Sunday remained thunder, lightning, rain and breeze during all day light hours with a real chances of precipitations! An early start for a 9.15am meet in Bristol with a journey of nearly continual precipitation but we arrived almost on time at a very attractive, recently redeveloped, ground behind tight security. It is likely that the retention of the recreational space allowed for the surrounding development.  Bishopston gave us a very warm welcome and it was anticipated if there was no more rain there was a chance of play later in the day. The players got out for some rugby, it looks like that will be the sport this year, and with the first lightning strike they made for the pavilion in time to watch England lose their final four wickets  for seven runs in twenty five balls including our 2014 Captain. He had made his mark the previous day. The rain stopped - we will look in two hours, it was called off before then and we had our lunch at and old haunt. Selection for the early matches has been difficult and  the 2016 captain's brother was due to make his debut. His time will come and it is hoped that the squad will have a decent Saturday before the next game at Taunton - radar encouraging.
