BRIXHAM defeated Chudleigh by 35 runs to move off the bottom of the A Division table.

Brixham made 155 all out in the last of their 50 overs, thanks largely to a stand of 83 between Tom Hopper and Mark Orchard, both of whom made 53.

Pro Abdul Muzammil missed out – he was the one for 13 from 10 overs for Mark Russell – and of the rest only Tim Robinson (12) and Connor Ashworth (15)  made double figures.

Chudleigh pacer Matt Ball finished on a high with three wickets in a hurry for figures of four for 21. Rob Clarke (2-16) was as dependable as ever.

Chudleigh could not put together a stand worth more than 21 and were all out for 120 in reply.

Spin did the damage with Muzammil (4-20) aided and abetted by Dan Bullock (3-47).

It was Brixham’s first win of the season and puts Chudleigh in bottom spot at their expense.

Mark Orchard, the Brixham skipper said keeping it simple was the key to victory.

“We batted patiently after losing the toss and bowled aggressively to take consistent wickets,” said Orchard.
