A wonderful day in Cornwall at the first round of the T20 competition.

Devon played hosts Cornwall first, and having loss the toss, Devon went into bat. Playing sensibly against some good bowling, openers Emma Corney (34) and Emily Roberts (6) began to build their partnership, but sadly Emily taking a risky second run, was runout. Olivia Churcher (27) provided the stability and with Emma batted a fine 49 partnership. It was Charlotte Massey (27*) and Katy Baylis (22*) that took Devon over the line and batted their overs, with a competitive score of 134-4.

Cornwall's first wicket was to be claimed by Katie Donovan (4-1-15-1) on the second of the ball of the innings. Runs came slowly and steadily for Cornwall along with Devon's help of the 46 extras! There were some fabulous catches from Jemma Ansley, Katie Donovan and Katie Harman; but it was spinner, Alicia Stebbing's (4-1-16-2) bowling that was a standout with her very first over being a double wicket maiden.

Cornwall batted their overs for 118-6.

Devon won by 16 runs.

The second of the T20s was against Somerset, and yet again Devon went into bat, having won the toss. Olivia Churcher (73*) clearly wanting runs hit two fabulous boundaries off the first two balls. She batted intelligently, hitting eleven boundaries. Though Somerset were to claim wickets, it was Ruby Davis (11), who rotated the strike and with Olivia to bat their overs with another competitive score - 142-6.

Devon took to the field determined to reduce their extras, and with a change of keeper in captain, Emma Corney, the bowlers certainly did!

Olivia Churcher and spinner Alicia Stebbing both took two wickets each, who also ended Somerset's innings with a ball to spare.

Devon won by 30 runs.
