IT’S all change at the top of the D Division West with Yelverton the new leaders and Stoke Gabriel down from top to third after losing to Plymouth II.

Paignton’s young side did well to limit Yelverton to 206 all out. Ben Grove (39) and Jay Redburn (33) the leading run getters. Tony Medlock had four wickets for 42 runs.

Paignton, who were without skipper and former Devon all-rounder Tim Ward due to injury, were bowled out for 90 by Tom Richards (5-16) and Sam Crompton (2-31).

High-flying Stoke Gabriel had their wings clipped at Mount Wise where they were skittled for 60 by Richard Goldsby-West (4-10), Jon Kerridge (3-5) and Jack Hughes (2-10).

Skipper Jack Tolley made 37 of the 60, which does not leave much from the rest.

Plymouth were cracking along happily until George Yates (3-39) took three wickets in an over to shake things up.

Goldsby-West saw Plymouth home with an unbeaten 33.

You go a year without winning a game then two come along at once! That’s been the experience for Plymouth CS&R players in recent weeks.

Last Saturday’s win over Whitchurch was their first for more than a season – and they were at it again when Kenn paid a visit to Roborough.

Stuart Dent (28) and super veteran Kevin Robjohns (24) were prime run getters for Civil in a total of 156 all out. Ollie Thomas and James Mason had identical figures of three for 30.

Kenn very nearly made it, but nearly is never enough. They recovered from 69 for six to reach the last two overs needing 13 to win. They got 10 with a ball to go and lost Thomas (27) to the last ball.

Alex Yates (3-38) and Jack Dent (3-23) were the bowling headliners for Civil.

Josh Towl helped himself to an unbeaten century in Whitchurch Wayfarers’ eight-wicket win away to Torquay II.

Ollie Pitts top scored for Torquay with 56, sharing a stand of 62 with Ben Passenger (35) and some late-order blows by Ian Baker (46) took the tally to 192 for nine.

Rob Bone (4-34) took the bowling prize for Whitchurch.

Openers Towl and Ben Powell (53) made a 138-run dent in the deficit. Towl was undefeated on 106 when the line was crossed with 11 balls to go.

Half-centuries for Dinesh Raheja, Richard Beaumont and Liam Price put South Devon on course for a 96-run win away to Barton II.

Barton are having a rough time this season with a young and inexperienced side leavened by a few old campaigners such as Jim Parker and Sean Jarman.

South Devon took full advantage of Barton’s inexperience to rack up 254 for seven in their 45 overs with Raheja (50), Beaumont (50) and Price (51no) leading the way.

Barton were all out in reply for 160, no one making more than opener Jack Bell (26).

Anthony Bingley took three Barton wickets for 31 runs and there were two scalps each for Raheja (2-28) and Jay Hargreaves (2-21).

It was South Devon’s third win in five starts in the division and puts them fifth in the table of ten.

South Devon return to Marsh Road this Saturday afternoon for an eagerly awaited derby date with Torquay II.
