A fabulous and convincing win against Somerset at Woodbury Cricket Club on a grey day.

Having lost the toss, Devon were put into bat on a morning where showers were threatening at some point. Openers Emma Corney (89) and Georgia Read (27) put in a wonderful 140 partnership. It was such a shame that when the girls played on through a shower and were brought off by the umpires, though before they had reached the boundary, the rain stopped! Emma who was on 89 returned to the crease five minutes later and faced only two more balls before she was out, lbw.

Georgia was was caught in the very next over. Olivia Churcher (20) and Charlotte Massey (13) who had waited patiently were next in. Fortunately the runs had been made by the top order as the lower order didn't manage a run between them. Devon batted their 40 overs and ended on 182-8.

Katie Donovan (4-1-11-1) opened the bowling against Somerset with a maiden and Katie Harman's (4-1-5-2) first over was also a maiden. The openers were to claim three wickets by the sixth over and Somerset were struggling with only 9 runs. It was Olivia Churcher who was to do the most damage to Somerset's innings with 5 wickets in her 3.1 overs for the loss of only5 runs.

Somerset were bowled out in the 14th over for 43!

Devon won by 139 runs!
