SAMPFORD Peverell & Tiverton remain two points clear of Honiton at the top of the E Division West following a 74-run win at Woodbury & Newton St Cyres.

Opener Lee Hooper (54) set the tone for SP&T in his 11-boundary knock. Support from Joe Parkinson (32), Rob Venn (41no) and Robbie Broomhead (39) got SP&T up to 240 for seven.

Martin Pearce, Becca Silk and Richard Hunt claimed two wickets each for W&NSC.

It looked like being an early finish as Josh Kellaway (3-31) and Tom Hatton (3-28) cut down W&NSC’s early and middle order.

Last pair Hunt (39no) and Chris Alford (16) kept SP&T in the field longer than expected before the home side were bowled out for 166.

Kentisbeare remain tucked in behind the top two courtesy of an eight-wicket win over Axminster Town at Cloakham Lawn.

Brad Conway hit an unbeaten half-century for Axminster in their tally of 196 for eight. The big stand was one of 64 for the fifth wicket with Joe Elsworth (36).

Wickets were shared round with two each for Andrew Chave, Phil Chappell and Josh Farley.

Paul Tatterton’s prolific season opening the batting for Kents continued with an unbeaten 68.

Tatterton put on 120 with Josh Farley (50) and and 52 unbroken with Jake Johnstone (33) to seal victory. Tatterton has 659 league runs in the book at an average of nearly 132!

Thoverton II remain rooted to the foot of the table, where they are 53 points adrift of safety, after suffering an eight-wicket reversal at Honiton.

Thors were all out for 121, which Ben Kidson (59) and Mike Docherty (32no) knocked off without too much difficulty.

Topsham St James chased down 191 to win at Bideford with more than three overs to spare and five wickets intact.

Marten Stanbury (56) top scored for Bideford. Mark Phillips (3-20) and Narendar Dhayal (3-35) led the bowling effort for TSJ.

Aiden Pring’s unbeaten 91 contributed to stands of 54 with Jon Sapwell (33), 52 with Mark Phillips and 55 unbroken with Matt Phillips (14no).

Half-centures from George Mutter (51) and Albert Southall-Brown (58) took Ottery II to a two-wicket win over Exwick.

Earlier, Mike Bauer made 83 for Exwick in their total of 173 all out.
